The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was supposed to make it easier to move goods between the United States, Canada and Mexico. But don't tell that to someone charged with understanding the Rules of Origin for classifying their products under NAFTA.
This one-day webinar helps you understand those Rules of Origin, apply them to your company's products, and then correctly complete and maintain the proper documentation to take advantage of the reduced tariffs under NAFTA. NAFTA is the first of the so-called modern free trade agreements, which are all based on classifying products under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule. While each free trade agreement is unique, mastering the basics of origination under NAFTA will help you gain benefits from all the modern free trade agreements for which you qualify.
If you take this webinar, you will:
- Examine the NAFTA Rules of Origin to determine if your products qualify for NAFTA.
- Accurately complete the NAFTA Certificate of Origin.
- Successfully enter products into the U.S., Canada or Mexico under NAFTA.
- Identify and apply the appropriate country of origin marking rules.
- Understand and meet the record-keeping requirements under NAFTA.
Basic understanding of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and General Rules of Interpretation (GRI) is required for this course. If you are not familiar with tariff classification and GRI, we recommend you sign up for Tariff Classification seminar or webinar prior to taking this webinar.
The webinar is exactly the same as the seminar except that you watch on your computer rather than sitting in the same room as the instructor. There is still ample time to ask questions. Small class sizes and a knowledgeable teacher allow for a great interaction between attendees and the instructor.
