Hank Selby is the President of Global
Trade & Logistics Services, Inc. (GTLS), a company
specializing in improving its clients' international
business activities by finding more efficient and cost-effective
options in their logistics process. These activities
include, but are not limited to, Customs compliance
and procedures, evaluation of existing logistics procedures,
evaluation and selection of carriers and other service
providers, document review, internal training, cost
containment and negotiations.
Prior to founding GTLS, Hank spent more than 15 years
in sales and management for Schenker, Inc., a leading
international freight forwarder and customhouse brokerage
company. In that position he managed import and export
activities for all types of clients, from one-person
operations up to Fortune 500 companies. His background
also includes more than five years in international
marketing as a trade specialist with the U.S. Department
of Commerce.
He currently serves as an Adjunct Faculty Member at
the University of Richmond teaching import/export transportation.
He also conducts training programs for a diverse group
of companies and academic institutions. Hank serves
as the Vice President of the Richmond Import-Export
Club and is a member of other international business
associations throughout Virginia. He holds a U.S. Customhouse
Broker's license and has had broad experience in Customs
matters and procedures.
Hank once tried to demonstrate his expertise in a completely
different field by accepting an invitation from a street
performer to walk on a bed of nails. He was certain
that it would not puncture his feet. After that experience,
he decided to limp back to the international logistics
arena.
