Mr. Joseph Robinson has 34 years experience
in international commerce. He lived abroad four times,
has traveled to 60 countries, and conducted business
in 46 countries.
He is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a BS in Economics;
Master of International Management at American Graduate
School of International Management (Thunderbird), and
also a Japanese government scholarship at Tokyo's Keio
University in Industrial Marketing Research. Postgraduate
studies include West Point, St. Josephs and Sophia University.
Joe is the International Trade Manager for Virginia
Economic Development Partnership, formerly the Governor's
office. He provides export counseling to many large
and small firms. He created and is the trainer of the
highly successful Export Documentation, Procedures and
Compliance workshop utilizing the nation's #1 shipping
software program. In the past 18 months he has trained
more than 300 individuals in 150 companies.
He has held international managerial positions at a
leading Fortune 500 chemical company, was Country Manager
for a major American pharmaceutical firm in Japan, and
was Vice President of a leading American-Japanese joint
venture. He was President and owner of his own import
business: Robinson Engineering Products Company.
One highlight of his career is providing White House
Executive Briefing to the President of the United States
on NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Association.
Joe was president of three International Trade Associations,
one of which he founded. He has served on many charitable
organizations; chaired the United Way and educational
committees and advisory boards, including Virginia Tech
and Radford University.
Joe's hobbies are wilderness camping and whitewater
rafting including the Grand Canyon, the Saudi Arabian
desert, the Yukon, Alaska and, of course, Virginia's
Appalachian Trail.
