In 1992 Catherine J. Petersen founded
CJ Petersen & Associates, which is a research, training
and consulting firm. She has designed documentation
and procedure manuals for exporters and has co-authored
two training manuals: Exporting: Regulations, Documentation,
Procedures and International Small Business Logistics.
Both books are used by firms as training manuals. Ms.
Petersen is a speaker and trainer on documentation and
regulations, transportation and payment procedures.
Ms. Petersen has been a freight forwarder, an ocean
carrier representative and active in international business
since 1980. While working as a freight forwarder, she
was active in preparing and presenting documents to
banks weekly for shipments under letters of credit.
These were shipments that involved a great deal of coordination
to assure that the supplier and shipper were paid, and
the buyer received the properly executed documentation
for high value shipments of cranes, water-well drilling
equipment and vehicles in the Middle East.
She holds both graduate and undergraduate degrees from
Mankato State University in regional planning. In addition,
she has been active in several organizations including
the University of Minnesota's Center for Transportation
Logistics Task Force, Twin Cities Round Table of Logistics
Management, Minnesota World Trade Association, and the
International Transportation Committee of the Transportation
Research Board.
